We didn’t set out to run an inn. We set out to save a house.

In 2008 Dale talked Margaret into buying the sagging 1911 Hollenbeck place two blocks off Main, mostly because he couldn’t stand to watch it come down. Two years of new wiring, honest plumbing and a lot of stripped paint later, we had five bedrooms we didn’t need and a town full of people driving through on their way to the Tower with nowhere decent to sleep. The math did itself. We opened in the spring of 2009 and never looked back.

The restored 1911 home that houses Sundance Bed & Breakfast

What we kept: the original Ponderosa pine floors, the pressed-tin ceiling in the parlor, the wavy-glass front windows and the porch swing. What we added: every room its own bath, good mattresses, quiet heat and air, and fast internet that works even when the cell signal doesn’t. It’s an old house with new bones.

These days you’ll find the parlor full of local history — photos of Sundance when the courthouse was new, and the long story of the Sundance Kid that gave the town its name. Ask about any of it; we’ll talk your ear off.
